As a part of the upgrade of our servers, the old outgoing mail server will be shutdown sometime tonight. Outgoing mail has been moved to a new server. The one thing that is still showing on the old server is people using Remote Mail, but not through the LAFN web page. I suspect they have it bookmarked. If so, you will no longer be able to use that bookmark after the old server is shutdown. You will need to go to www.lafn.org and use the Remote Mail link in Current Users.

Without any real information about you or what is actually happening, its difficult to identify the cause for your problem. I am been receiving a lot of email from LAFN users today. No one else is reporting anything similar. Contact us with the full details so we can investigate.

From 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 today 5/20 I repeatedly tried to send an e-mail message to one of my regular contacts using a stored address that has worked perfectly for over a year. The message would not "send."
I received the message that my computer could not connect with the mail server at smtp.lafn.org.
I did not send the message labeled "anonymous" but I shared the same problem. Thanks, rizzo @ lafn.

I am not sure that anonymous's issue is the same as yours. The problem you encountered was due to the DNS server you were using having picked up an old smtp definition. There was a system bulletin with the details. I suspect anonymous's problem might be much more involved but its difficult to tell from the information provided.
